Still hotter than a t-shirt
PostedSeptember 8, 2014
I spend a lot of time gardening. I'm about 6' tall and usually a medium. I needed a large to give me enough room to work in the garden, but it would be too big to go out into town an look good. I'm sure a medium would look better on me.
Even though it is tropic wear, understand that is is going to be hotter than a t-shirt. I got white to stay a bit cooler, but still on a hot day, it is still a hot shirt to be in, but it does protect me from the sun way better than sun block.

Great shirt but changed to an ugly green color
PostedSeptember 3, 2014
First, I want to say that I own several of these shirts and am very happy with them. My old green tropicwear shirt wore out so I ordered a new one but will be returning it because you changed the color. Your catalog and website show it as a light green color but when it arrived in the mail, it was a loud and ugly green color. PLEASE update your advertisements with the correct & updated color and go back to the original color.

Nice, but...
PostedJune 22, 2014
It was a bit heavier than I expected. I have a another brand of fishing shirt that is definitely lighter and a bit cooler than the Tropicwear shirt. Because of that, this one is not my first choice on the hottest days on the water.
On the plus side, the Tropicwear shirt does have a higher UPF rating than my other shirts... probably due to the slightly thicker material. I also expect this will help the shirt last longer than the competition.
The fit is on the big side which I like in a fishing shirt for ease of movement, and it is very comfortable.
Quality of construction is excellent and exactly what I expect and pay for when I buy L.L. Bean products.
All in all, a good purchase, and I plan on getting another one in white. Maybe the white color will make it feel lighter and cooler. It certainly should be the best protection against the sun.
I wish the Bean rating system was a little more finite. The shirt deserves a 4.5 with the only small minus being the thickness.

LOVE da shirt!
PostedJune 17, 2014
I am not a fisherman, I use my shirt for photographing air shows, racing cars, and birding
.Comfortable! The color is great, it is cool in the sun. and provides sun protection. That's good for us who are plagued by sun-caused skin cancers! It washes up wonderfuly, I just hang it to dry, which it does quickly, with no ironing needed! YAY!.
My wife thinks it is very good-loooking, which is a boon, because she got it for me for Father's Day. She hates camo!
There is one minor issue...I am just in between regular/tall, so I got a tall. It is long! I must leave the bottom button undone, in order to easily acess the equipment.
