Ii kept a breeze flowing in and around the body, was lightweight, and easily dried when needed for another occasion....and it didn't need to be ironed to smooth out wrinkles as they weren't there. Most important, the shirt is versatile and thus can be worn in a variety of settings -- from the beach to the dining room.
My son sunburns easily. Finally, here's a long-sleeved shirt that will protect him. Be aware that the shirt runs long and large. He's normally in a long extra-large, but the regular large fit right in this shirt.
I've had this a year and it still looks and wears great. Wish I had bought two when they were on sale. Only thing I would change would be to leave the LL Bean logo off.
I bought these originally for my pilgrimage on the Camino de Santiago. I also bought several other brands to test for my "train up". Without question these are the most durable, easy to wear, easy to care for shirts of them all. I wore one for the full 500 miles (36 days) washing it almost every evening. I now own 5 and will wear one (maybe the same one as before) when I do the pilgrimage again in a year or so. They are great for spring, summer, or fall - sleeves up or down.
