Very light weight and durable! Breathable & nice sized pockets. I like to hike in the desert and this is the perfect shirt. I often go thru all sorts of desert brush and not a tear or rip. Which is more than I can say for my skin, and yes the blood washed right out!
I had purchased a few non-clothing items from LL Bean, at the main store, years ago, but they were totally off of my radar.
It wasn't until I recently began a search for a reasonably priced light weight shirt with sun block protection that I came across the name again. That lead me to the tropicwear shirt (slate blue).
I had read other reviews that had said the shirt sizes are larger than normal so I checked the sizing and was disappointed to see that the sizes I thought would fit had sleeves that were too long and the shirt that had sleeves of the correct length I assumed was too small. I decided to call customer service to see if someone could help me figure out if their was a correct size for me. I wondered if I would reach anyone who knew much about the product. I thought their was a good possibility that the cs person would really only be able to take the order but not be helpful.
I am pleased to say I spoke with Vanessa. Vanessa was not only extremely pleasant to speak with but she was also a big help in making the selection. If I hadn't spoken with her I would either have not ordered due to the size confusion or would have ordered a large or Xtra large figuring If the fit wasn't correct I could exchange it for a different size.
After hearing my concerns Vanessa very thoughtfully recommended the medium shirt. She also helped me to verify the color I wanted because the color chart seemed to either be out of order or to have misnamed the colors. I wound up ordering the medium size slate blue and when it arrived I tried it on and it was indeed the right size. Kudos to Vanessa she was superb. She should get a raise.
I wanted a shirt that would be lightweight and easy to fold and pack. It seems to be that.
I bought it for a future occasion so I haven't yet worn or washed it I will add to this review in the future about that.
One small question the website description says 50 UVF the tag on the shirt says 40 UVF?
My husband is fair and prone to pre-cancerous skin eruptions. He wears these shirts all summer long to protect his arms. The shirts are comfortable and wear well and launder nicely. They have travelled all over with us!
