This is my third Tropicwear shirt from L.L. Bean. I bought the first two, a white one and a light blue one, many years ago and have pretty much worn them out.
I use them mainly when gardening and hiking.
The only reason for giving this purchase a four-star rating is because they no longer offer a white colored version of the Men's Tropicwear shirt. They do offer a white model in the Women's version, so why not in the Men's version?
It just seems so obvious that a shirt that is designed to protect from the sun and to keep you cooler on hot days would come in white. A white shirt is almost a given in many tropical climates and also has a very crisp and sharp vibe when it is scorching hot outside. Some of the other colors are just not very attractive, such as the light gray (Pewter).
Even the L.L. Bean phone rep was surprised. A year or so ago I asked two different reps to request a Men's white version but it never happened. So I ordered the Soft Blue and can tell the difference in comfort (heat) between that and the white.
Come on L.L., make a white Men's and I'll order two of them.
Very good fabric and colors, looks good out of the dryer with removal before completely dry, shake and hang with few remaining wrinkles. I usually wear a 35" sleeve and these sleeves in large size fit well. Fabric is rather light weight but tough with good wicking for warm weather.
