This shirt fits loose, provides protection against the sun, and keeps me comfortable when it's warm or hot. I like the roomy, Velcro sealed pockets and the strap to hold the sleeves up.
I seem to have bought this shirt just as a heat wave enveloped the Northeast. I've worn it probably five days a week for a month. The fabric is the most comfortable in hot weather I've ever had. Perspiration wicks or evaporates away so efficiently the shirt doesn't get soaked with sweat. A plus is that the shirt looks good, too. Rinse it out, put it through the spin cycle, hang it up, it's good to go the next day. Now for my quibbles. At this price point, the shirt should be perfect. And for pennies on the dollar, Bean can make it perfect. First, the buttons. They are way too small for man fingers. They are as small as the collar buttons on some button-down shirts. Give me bigger buttons, please. Now the button size is really annoying when trying to use the sleeve-roll up tab. This is an operation that has to be done one-handed. Second, the sleeve roll-up feature is messy. The side of the sleeve with the tab stays up, the other side tends to keep trying to slide back down your forearm. If your are doing yardwork etc, anything that involves extensive use of your arms, you'll find yourself constantly pulling the sleeves back up (if you are wearing them rolled). This problem could be solved by using two tabs on each sleeve (with bigger buttons!) And yet--when I see that the forecast is for 85 degrees or so, I reach for this shirt. I'm glad Bean sells it.
I have sensitive skin and need to cover up from the sun. This shirt does a perfect job of protecting me. It is comfortable and washes nicely. I bought a men's medium because I like it roomy.
