I like these shirts for summer wear. They are well made, light weight and attractive. However, like most LL Bean shirts, if you're not overweight and are physically fit, you'll need to buy a size smaller than Bean chart recommends. With 40 inch chest and 15 1/2 inch neck which should be a medium, instead I find a small fits me perfectly. That is consistently the case with all Bean shirts, for me anyway.
I found this shirt to be very comfortable and functional. You can roll up the sleeves if you want without a problem. I have fair skin and need the extra protection from the sun.
Shirt does everything I've come to expect. Little details such as pocket size and placement were fine; sleeve lengths, shoulder widths, tails were all to my standards. I actually use these shirts for fishing; this one so far has passed mustard. It's very comparable to other name brands that are common for this sport.
Whodathunk they'd eliminate the handy zipper that used to be on the side of the left-hand pocket? My husband's old LLB like this (made in Sri Lanka) has this feature, as does the current one I bought for me. The new batch show that were made in Bangladesh if that makes any difference.
Also wonder what the purpose is for those little open tabs on left/right side of the pockets.
As usual I washed all the shirts before wearing and they wash/dry excellent. The quality of the product overall is excellent as well. Size XL is the usual bought (both m/f) and fit as expected.
