I ordered the medium tote bag in moss green to use as a briefcase catchall for my job and it works just as I imagined. Didn't need all the pockets of a standard briefcase. Made with LLB quality materials & standards, it fits my needs beautifully. I had it monogrammed with a single letter which came out a little bigger than I thought at 2-1/2 inches high, in black, but it's fine. Bag fits my iPad with its bulky case with no problem, small camera, paperwork, magazines, keys and other items. I was debating over ordering the larger bag just because of the number of items I would be carrying daily, but no issues, it's great. A bulky lunch might not fit with all my other stuff, but I was aware of the size when I purchased it. Love the zippered top. Does not have a strap for over the shoulder, so if you're looking for that, pick another bag. Good handles--very comfy. Bag would be good for an all purpose carryall bag, but medium size is not too large. If you would use it like a standard tote, get the large size. Father-in-law has the larger size and it's great as well--just not for my daily briefcase purpose, it would have been too large. Double bottom panel is sturdy and keeps bottom of bag flat.
We love this bag. We have the extra large size to store and transport my husband's hunting gear, paintball equipment and dirt bike riding safety gear. We have used it to go to the beach, shopping and transporting Christmas gifts. It holds a lot and is made of a heavy canvas that has held up and will hold up with repeated use. I like that it isn't stiff like the other LLBean boat and tote bags. It makes it much easier to store folded when empty or tuck under a seat in the vehicle to keep handy and ready for use.
I'm very impressed by the quality of this fine tote bag. I am using my new bag for work to bring my lunch, IPhone, IPad mini and it's chargers, and everything fits perfect! The zipper zips up smoothly and opens and closes excellent! I purchased it black for my Manhattan commute. It's an excellent product for under $45. Thanks L.L.Bean !
High quality bag. I bought the medium size. My 17" laptop fits perfect in it. Love the zipper. Inside will clean easily. One improvement would be an inside or outside pocket.
