I JUST BOUGHT THIS BAG AFTER BUYING THE NEXT SIZE WHICH I TOOK TO SOUTH AMERICA, THEY ARE BOTH VERY STRONG, STAY CLEAN AND ARE TERRIFIC AS ARE ALL OF THE LL BEAN TOTE BAGS. THE ZIPPER FEATURE IS REALLY NICE BECAUSE YOU CAN USE IT AS A CARRY ON BAG ON A PLANE AND IT STAYS CLOSED. THE SMALL SIZE IS VERY GOOD TO USE AS A TOURIST WHEN YOU ARE JUST WALKING AROUND A CITY AND WANT TO CARRY A FEW THINGS, UMBRELLAS, RAINCOATS, CAMERAS, ETC.
I ordered this bag recently without the zipper as a gift for a gentleman friend. He absolutely loves it and takes it with him all the time. My friend uses this bag for everything! I ordered the large and he says it is the perfect size, too, for him. I only wish you had it in other colors like navy or brown or colors for women, too. Thanks again for a great product. I plan to order a couple more in the near future for my twin daughters who are into rodeo and carry a lot of stuff in the horse trailer when they are on the road. These make great gifts.
I have both the medium and the large - they are really great bags BUT the large is much too big for everyday use with a laptop - it feels like too big a deal to take anywhere, and the medium is too small for my laptop (it's kind of too small for anything). I wish they'd make a "medium" that was 14 or 15" wide x 13 or 14" high so that laptop carriers could use it. (it's kind of amazing to me that they haven't thought of this already) - I'd give 5 stars to a more useful size.
Solid construction, strong zipper, two d-rings available for attaching accessories or a strap. I purchased a second unit a week after receiving this bag.
