So, per the attached tags: "Zone 3 - cold, windy weather, 0-40F" - "WindPROOF to 35mph"... Well, not. Certainly not worn by themselves without an underlayer. Have now worn them in both the PNW and in the Yukon. As long as I've got on a good underlayer, they're okay. They are comfortable, and I'll continue to use them, but the pair I have are more like "Zone 2" and are not 35 wind blockers.
This pant is great for those folks wanting to stay very warm at lower aerobic levels. I found it way too hot for my xc skiing, which admittedly averages very aerobic. This laminate material is quite wind resistant and mildly water resistant. Never claimed to be anything-proof. I agree with those mentioning that the material does pill (hang dry to avoid pilling) and will catch on sharp edges. I keep mine for very cold xc skiing or snowshoeing. Sporthill, please make a light weight version with wind-proofing panel in the front!
Excellent cold weather cross country ski pants. Very comfortable and block the wind. Close fitting for good body movement without being uncomfortably tight. Great product. A zippered wallet pocket would be nice. I wonder why nobody does that. Regardless, I love these pants.
