These pants work great, very comfortable, and the extra length in the XL was perfect. I'm a little over 6' tall and need an inseam length of 33 inches (or 34 to cover a portion of my boot), and these fit perfectly. On really cold days (below 20 degrees) I used a high tech under layer without an impact to the fit and comfort of these outer pants. I would recommend these and will plan to buy another pair if these should happen to wear out.
These are perfect for Wyoming winters! Hiking in the cold, with or without snow (so far), and in our gentle 30+ mph breezes, these pants are the thing to wear! Stretchy, not too tight, and wicking, these pants do the job. The tag says 'up to 35 mph' and I tested it. They pulled on without unzipping at the ankles over some medium smartwool socks, though did need to be unzipped to get 'em off easily. The cuffs likely will go over my hi-cut winter hikers and zip without a fight. And they'll handle some long johns when needed without feeling sprayed on. The pockets are big enough for an iPod or phone.
2 things: The tag & order say 'mens' but the stitched in tag says 'womens'. Whatever. Also, the Sporthill tag shows they offer short, regular and long. Care to offer the short version LLB? Bean doesn't make their Performance Fleece pants of a similar style, though I got a number of years out of mine. These should replace them nicely and I expect as many years of enjoyment as well. You get what you pay for and these are worth every penny.
I picked up a pair at an LL Bean outlet store recently, looking for something for running in between shorts in warm weather, and tights in cold weather. From a fit perspective, they couldn't be better, maybe a little long, but because of the tapered ankle that's not an issue. I went for a run this morning in 38-40 degree weather with calm winds and my goodness did my legs stay warm! I'm actually not too sure I'd use these much above 35; I'm definitely looking forward to winter running now! A very comfortable pant, it will be useful for snowshoeing and winter hiking as well.
bought for walking and snow shoeing: good to about 20 degrees, could extend lower if long johns are worn. Beats the wind hands down. Comfortable. Tight at ankle to keep them warm. Recommend highly.
