I did not realize when ordering that these are really meant for skiers who need to have narrow legged pants with no "extras" to snag or flap, ie, streamlined pants for the slopes. My husband wanted these for general wear and walking in cold wintry weather, but he wants back pockets and belt loops...and has big feet which barely went through the narrow legs on these. (He did have an older LL Bean pair of winter pants which were perfect but I guess those aren't offered any more.) So these are going back.
After doing a snowshoe discovery course, the salesman recommended these pants. I absolutely love them and agree with him that these are great for any winter activity. They fit snug but yet stretch with you. They are windproof and I wear a base layer under them. I was plenty warm in 27 degree weather snowshoeing in our local park. I also want to wear these biking on cold fall days. They fit snug around the ankle so they won't get caught in the chain. If you do any winter activity, cross country skiing, snowshoeing, skating or even just going out for a walk and getting some fresh air you will definitely want to have a pair of these pants.
Bought these for my husband, and he wears them when we walk outside. Says they are warm and they do look good on him. The legs narrow at the ankle with a very long, usuable zipper that doesn't affect the fit of the pants. A winner.
