I use this for a 10 foot kayak on top of a Honda Ridgeline with no roof rack. Biggest advice I can give is that you need to use ALL the straps they give you. Initially, I only used straps for the bow, stern, and one across the hull. Took it on the New York Thruway and it got blown around like a weather vane. Stopped and re-secured the straps, then added the SECOND strap across the hull. That made all the difference. Very secure. No further issues. This kit is really easy to use and it stores away in the handy nylon bag. The way the pads are designed, you can easily use it with any type of roof setup. I'll buy another kit when I get a second kayak.
This did not work so well. The boat moved around on top of the vehicle and we had to stop 1/2 way home to find an alternative way to get it to our destination. Was disappointed.

It works great and the sales person at LL Bean was kind enough to show me how to tie it down. Unfortunately I did not do it properly the next time I used it so as I was driving it flew out from under my Kayak. But that is not the fault of the salesman. I just did not tighten the tie down enough. So remember to tighten it as much as you can so that it will no9t fly away when you are driving with the Kayak on top. I had to go and get another set.
