Chukar Jacket,
February 13, 2010
By
tarheelQHfrom Charlotte, NC
"Use this coat for quail hunting in SC/NC. Superb for our cool afternoons. Front loading to rear pouch is a great feature. Warm and loaded with features. Shell loops are designed for 12 Gauge shells only. Purchased the Loden Green and very pleased with the color. Like it so much I wear it to run errands. Very well made, but would prefer snaps in the front rather than buttons."

Jacket w/birds...minus a button
"Two fixes and this coat would be awesome.
First, like my LLB vest, the attachment of the button leaves a lot to be desired. Use some heavy duty thread for cryin' out loud!! A main (front) button popped off half way through its first season.
Second, it only loads from one side. Stick one bird in and then you've gotta ubutton the coat to adjust the load. Should be able to load from both sides.
Other than that, it'll last me many, many years of hard use in the NV desert."

My first double in the Chukkar Jacket
"The problem I had with this jacket would never be a problem if you couldn't kill any game in it. It has great material, (soft but tough) comfortable, well cut, holds shells well, fits and swings great with a nice lining and is pretty breathable. The biggest problem I had was with the game bag. The one single front opening is pretty tight and is comparatively small. It is hard to get your dead bird/rabbit around to the back game pouch section. Being as there is no other opening to the game bag, it often stops 1/2 way around your hip. I quit loading my game bag through the front and would remove my jacket and place game directly in the back. Also, the game bag has a snap-expanding gusset that isn't big enough. A single grouse is not huge, but in this game bag, it feels like a massive lump in your back. The last issue is that you have to be careful with the buttons. They back right out of the button holes rather easily, especially if the material is damp. Buttoned-up and hunting without game, it hunts great. A few minor fixes and this coat would make me very happy. It is a WELL constructed jacket. My biggest problem is with the loading and carrying of game."

Chukar Jacket,
February 3, 2010
By
Santfrom Georgia
"Good light weight jacket perfect for cool mornings. Functional, but could use more pockets. Wouldn't recommend it if it looks like rain, but it doesn't claim to be waterproof. I wore it over a fleece and thermals in +32 degree weather and was comfortable. Held up pretty good to briars too. I would like to have a waxed cotton version for wet weather."

"great jacket but it needs a zipper, not just the very hard to fasten buttons. Maybe with use the buttons holes will loosen and fasten easier."

Upland Jacket,
January 30, 2010
By
LLBeanOutdoorsfrom Texas
"Overall this is a very good quality jacket. It's medium weight that can have layers underneath and still be able to shoot when cold weather permits.Lots of room and pockets for everything.I wish the cuffs were adjustable with velcro instead of the 2 buttons that are on the sleeve.Otherwise the jacket is perfect for me. .I will be using this jacket next season."

"This is a great jacket, again it follows the LL Bean boxy is right path. If only LL Bean would make a more modern twist on classic clothes they would have an instant classic. Alas I returned this item since it was to big."

Chukar jacket,
January 21, 2010
By
DavyKfrom Iowa
"Very satisified. The jacket is well built and tough. I gave it a break-in trip grouse hunting and it held up well. Shell loops are 12 ga. only - they're big. But pockets are suitable for a handfull of 28 ga. loads. Looking forward to a chukar hunt next fall wearing this coat."

Upland Coat,
January 20, 2010
By
h2ospanielsfrom Northwest Tennessee
"this is my second Chukar jacket. I like the weight, sleeve length and the way I can move while wearing the coat. It has adequate pockets for shells and gear as well, and the design makes it easy to put your game in the game pouch. I buy the jacket one size larger and this gives me the ability to layer clothes. In my part of the country it could 60 degrees today and and 20 next week."

Nice Jacket,

By
OldGrouseHunterfrom MN
"The shorter length is just right for hunting Ruffies and Timberdoodles. Made especially well. Good materials and quality workmanship. Has plenty of room, pkts in the right places, no binding and no interference. Not too heavy and not too light. Fairly water resistant too."

chukar jacket,
September 30, 2009
By
llbeanhunterfrom Lexington ky
"a fine upland jacket for those looking for an alternative to heavy coats. The chukar jaket has many fine features : full body, front loading, fully cleanable game bag. durable water resistant nylon fabric feels like prebroken in cotton canvas. and its short waist design is attractive enough for running errands in town. I have wanted one for years and am glad I finaly pulled the trigger."

Great Jacket!,

"I bought this jacket for my husband because my dad has a version of it from the 1970's and my husband loves it. Even today, this jacket is still a great addition to anyone's bird hunting attire. I know my husband will use and enjoy it for many years to come."
