July 2010 Camping Experience
PostedJuly 28, 2010
ProsPerforming as Expected
We used the tent this past weekend for a two day camping. We practiced setting up the tent before we went and it was a good opportunity to familiarize ourselves with the set nuances. The ten was not hard to set up considering we have a smaller two-man tent from Bean using crossing suspension technology.
We did not have the tent footprint when we went camping and our tarp did not do the best job of keeping the screened in area bug free. We have it now and look forward to using it on our next trip.
On night two, it poured and the tent was dry and no rain came in. This was impressive and reinforced our decision to buy from Bean. Overall we are very pleased with this tent and look forward to using it and watching how the crossing pole hold up with continued use.

Prosdisappointing
Bought this tent to upgrade our small Bean backpacking tent which has kept us dry, tucked under from incredible wind and sleeping like babies for 10 years. My wife no longer wanting to sleep on the ground for long excursions encouraged me to cross over into the land of larger tents. Like everyone else, we set this up in the yard; found broken fly pole. LLBean sent another. Thank goodness for good service. Out for the weekend bungee cord rope snapped in a pole in the bag and then the tent snapped another 2 poles over the weekend. The screen room should be redesigned so that it has a floor of some sort. It is useless as an extra sleeping area and lets in the bugs. Putting the footprint under it makes no difference.
Although there are a lot of great features with this tent it is poorly built and a huge disappointment for Bean. We returned it to the store; where they had several others returned that day.

ProsDurable, Great Value, Performing as Expected
Really love the screened in front "porch", perfect for escaping bugs! Not sure I would REALLY want to sleep 6, because we love to have room. My husband is happy because he can stand up! And, it is relatively easy to set up considering the size.

ProsGreat Value
We are a family of 3. Six peple could fit, but it would be very tight. Other tan that the tent is great.
I put it up in the yard for my 2year old to get used to sleeping outside. Very easy to set up. the freestanding feature is nice on such a large tent. This is the only family tent I could find with a full rain fly in my price range.
