- Excellent, heavy duty utility tool. - Easy access to blades without having to open the device. - Locking blades for added safety. - A little heavy, however, for what it is capable of, well worth the weight. - The leather case is just fine and holds the tool snugly. - I carry this with me daily.
I have another version of leatherman but the wave far exceeds its utility. The most often used tools located on the outside of the handle so they can be opened without unfolding the tool is a tremendous advantage. I use it almost every day. The leather case it comes with is not a good one however and I had to buy a nylon one from another source. It's made explicitly for the wave and I would suggest that L. L. Bean start to carry it as an option.
I own a couple of these, as well as other Leatherman tools. The Wave has just the right tools, and with LLBean's & Leatherman's customer service satisfaction & warranty, you can't go wrong. It is a bit pricey compared to others, but if you get it on sale and apply coupons it's a good buy. LLBean has an exceptional, no hassle Customer Service Team, policy. You can't beat it.
