I would recommend the Thule 956 Parkway Bike Carrier. It is solidly built. The only thing to keep in mind is that it does not fold down when not in use.
I purchased this bike carrier as a more secure option than a strap on model. The carrier was easy to assemble and install. It is very well built and sturdy. It held the bikes very securely with little movement. My only wish is that the arms could fold down without having to remove a bolt. A pin would be an easier option.
This is a really good quality well-made (in the USA) bicycle carrier that gives you great confidence when it's attached to your vehicle correctly. Easy to attach to vehicle and just as easy to attach bicycles to carrier. Important to note: you have to purchase an attachment bar for girls' bicycles at an additional cost. I am happy I bought this brand but most importantly I am glad I went through L.L. Bean. Superior customer service
Could have bought a generic carrier but thought I'd spring for a "quality" rack and spend a couple of extra bucks. Ready to go riding this weekend and ordered a Thule 956. Got my delivery on Friday and unpacked it ready for assembly. Wouldn't you know it I never got it together....bolt holes didn't align??? Weekend ride ruined.....Thule quality?????
