I live in New Zealand, where it is now winter, and purchased this sweater when I was visiting my daughter in the USA. The sweater is perfect for the wet and windy conditions that prevail during the New Zealand winter. It is also pretty windproof even when worn without a shell. I love it!
This sweater in Green has lived up to my expectations. The online order was shipped and received at my Utah residence on time. It is another quality item (clothing) from L.L.Bean.
This is a GREAT sweater - warm, attractive, nicely made. Bought first one as a gift for my son - I liked it so much I bought one for myself. Liked that one so much I bought a second. You won't be disappointed!
Skeptical of fit at first, now my favorite sweater

When this sweater first arrived, the details were perfect but the fit seemed too snug/ skinny/ hipster for my taste. Since I wanted it primarily for layering in these MI winter days, I thought I'd give it a try anyway.
Within an hour two of wearing it with the sleeves pushed up, the sleeves developed a comfortably loose but still trim shape. The gut and chest soon followed suit. By hour four, I was convinced that it fit well, and as soon as I got it out in public the complements began. I'm 6' tall, and wear a 44 regular suit jacket, the large fits beautifully (after the initial break- in), even down to length of the rolled sleeves.
This is the only non- military- surplus sweater I have owned with elbow and shoulder patches that actually cover the wear areas, even with the sleeves pushed up. The patches on this one don't just serve as decoration, they actually work.
This sweater is warm, and breathable. It is comparable in softness and hand to the ribbed part of Bean's rag wool socks. It works well in the cold with a wind shell or jacket over it, and well indoors over a t- shirt (in February). The briar color has twill patches about the same color as a pair of chinos, not as brown as canvas work pants.
I'll order another one, or two, in another color when I get my tax return.
