We are very disappointed in the color of the sweater. We ordered Deep Woods Green Heather, and there is nothing green about the sweater whatsoever. It is an unattractive shade of brown. The description and even picture are misleading. They should re-name the color of this item. We have asked several people what color they would say the sweater is and every single person has replied "brown. " Not one person has thought the sweater looks green at all.
I am 6'3'' and about 240 lb. Deep woods green model was almost completely darker brown with hardly a hint of dark green. Surprising but not a big deal. Ordered tall. The tall model was at least 4'' too long. Regular would have probably been a better choice. Also, do not count on it shrinking with washing -- was tool lazy to return and quite certain that it would shrink if washed in hot water but to my surprise it did not shrink much at all. The wool is not as tightly wowed as the military models. Overall, not bad for the price but would gladly pay more for a more tightly wowed wool resembling the original military models.
I had been watching this sweater for a while on LL Bean. I finally decided to purchase this sweater when my wife and I decided to go to Europe for Christmas vacation. I was in the Democratic Republic of Congo at the time so I had LL Bean ship to Europe for me and boy was it worth it.
This sweater was warm enough to the point that I was sweating indoors while it was under a light jacket. It does give you a rather dashing look. My wife really likes the way it looks on me and said I NEED to buy it to two other colors.
I'm 5'10" 198 lbs, athletic build and fits well. I've worn this on top of wool base layer and t-shirt with a medium to light jacket and felt great.
I bought two of these sweaters in a brownish color for my husband for work to wear over his uniform a few years ago. He works outside every day, and does heavy activity 10-12 hours a day. The sweaters are absolutely the Best!! They are rugged, warm, neat looking, and stand up to the fall and winter weather here in the Northeast. They launder very well, and I line dry them. They still look new! He loves every aspect of them! The guys at work even ask him where he gets them!l
