As with everything else I order from LL Bean, the fit is great. The other thing that I especially appreciate about LL Bean hunting/outdoor items is that they fully meet the hunting/outdoor need but still look good enough to wear around town. That certainly applies to this sweater. The sweater is plenty warm and moves fluidly for shooting. I've got years of use in store for this sweater.
Timeless style, tight enough knit to be warm. Comfortable and accurate fit. I hate being cold and these sweaters keep you warm. This style and the henley style are both excellent sweaters, I have multiples from LL Bean. Only thing that could make it better would be if they still came from the original manufacturer in England. How cool would that be.
I do like this sweater - in fact, I just ordered another, this time the navy - so I will have one in each color. They are very well made. (I have had one for over 20 years!) People do stop and make complimentary comments about the sweaters.
Because the sweater is wool and has a crewneck, I usually wear it with a turtleneck. That combination both looks nice and is comfortably warm.
As for sizing - I ordered my usual size (L/Reg - I am 6'1" and around 190) and it fits very nicely - and has a "fitted" look. For those who have a larger waistline, one might consider going up a size.
The sweater I am reviewing is the "green" one. If one is seeking a military olive drab color, one will be disappointed. The color is hard to explain, as it definitely has both green and brown colorings in a heather tone. It is a nice color and could be worn casually or for hunting, fishing or other outdoor pursuits.
