Top kit

ProsDurable, Great Value, Performing as Expected
Bought the green one about a year ago, and I have found it to be the absolute best piece of kit I've bought in ages. Reminds me of the genuine article I wore at Sandhurst and Hereford and places that I can't legally tell you I've been (Official Secrets Act) - only better quality. Have now ordered the navy and the sable (which is SAS beret colour - superb!). Only two wishes - would like to have an airforce-blue one as well (as in, RAF blue-gray); and it would be great if they had epaulettes - but then I'd probably put my rank insignia on and start ordering the wife and children around! Well done LL Bean - top British kit from the Yanks! The special relationship is strong as ever.

Great feel, nice looking shirt.

The only reason I didn't give this 5 stars is the fact that the wool is very coarse and you need to wear a turtle neck underneath it. If you just wear a regular shirt, it will get you in the sleeves and collar. Other than that, I wear it out hunting and man is it warm.

Buying another
PostedFebruary 24, 2010
Bought this for Christmas for my high-school son. He hasn't taken it off yet, and it's been 2 months. Forced to buy him another in a different color so I can get it away to be cleaned. He loves it. A funny-- a spark flew out of the fire and landed on his shoulder. We smelled the burning but didn't realize it was him! Later found the sweater had a little charred hole, which didn't go through to the shirt or his skin. A 3-minute darn fixed it to invisible. Better than polartec, eh?
