I am a pretty big fella (6', 230lbs.) and am an avid outdoorsman. Living in central Wisconsin = subzero a fair bit of the winter so I thought this sweater would fit the bill. When I received it there was no doubt I'd be warm. Heavyweight, tightly woven, snug fit, flexible, durable, and attractive are all adjectives that come to mind. The canvas patches on the shoulders and forearms were a little weird at first, but have turned out to be nice details. Heads up: As mentioned in other reviews, this is a very warm sweater so make sure to wear or carry a moderate layer beneath if you're going to be inside or doing extended exertion. Also, this sweater is form fitting so if you are self-conscious about your physique this may not be the sweater for you. Bottom line: Great price for an ultra warm sweater that looks great to boot!
I bought it just for the look, but boy did it turn out to be a great sweater! I wore this with just a long sleve undershirt out fishing the other day, it was 48 with a 20mph wind and I actualy started to sweat! It is wool so it will be itchy no mater how soft they claim it is.
Super sweater. Warm, great fit, typical L.L. Bean quality. I have two and wear them as an underlayer when ice fishing or deer hunting in addition to just casual wear on Fall days. What I like the best is the newer one that I just received can be machine washed and it's made with Merino wool, which isn't nearly as scratchy as my old one that was worsted wool and was dry clean only. My brother used to buy all his hunting clothes from other merchants, but after I recommended L.L.Bean and he received the clothing, he couldn't believe the features designed into the garments and the care that was evident in the construction. Made a believer out of him; you just can't beat the quality and the service.
quite soft and comfortable that provides a degree of warmth. fashioned after the WWII look, this is an overall well made sweater at a reasonable price.
