The sweater fits perfectly over a hoodie sweatshirt. I wear a down sweater over this combo, and I am set for long periods outside in the winter. It is really warm, and rugged.
Excellent quality sweater except the material did not feel like Marino Wool. A few years ago I converted most of my clothing, especially under garments to 100% Marino Wool so I am very familiar with it. The material this sweater was made of was nice and heavy but it did not have the silky softness of Marino Wool and actually felt itchy so I had to return it. Although it is advertised as being 100% Marino Wool I think it maybe blended with a coarser type of wool that caused it to be itchy.
