I've always wanted one of these. Turns out, it is even nicer than I hoped. When it was in the teens outside I wore this with just a t-shirt underneath, and I was warm. It is comfy, and I didn't overheat inside with it. It is well-made- a classic. I plan to purchase another heather one for me and my son too. Also, I'm 2xl, ordered such, and the fit was great.
A bit form-fitting and not soft, but incredibly well-made and will last forever. The patches are on the shoulders and the elbows -- are designed to reinforce areas that experience the most wear. This is a well-made example of LL Bean at its finest. Other than from the UK I don't know of a better place to procure one of these at equal quality. No regrets -- just know that this is not designed to be loose but form-fitting so contact LL Bean if you're unsure or can't determine your proper size prior to purchase.
