I love this sweater. The wool is soft and smooth, not rough like a shetland, and you could almost wear it with no shirt underneath! OK, a t-shirt at least. After I ordered I was slightly worried about the "fitted" description, because I am a big guy (6'-3") and carry a bit of a belly. Well, the length on the body and sleeves is just right and no tightness around the belly. This sweater will be worn often by me this fall and winter.
I have several of these, both styles, they are warm and fit well but don’t have the same feel as the original from the 70’s that were made in the UK. So far they have held up for about 6 years without issues. Pretty much only buy high end sweaters from LL Bean, can”t find comparable in the big box stores.
Still have one of the originals from the 70’s that I use when working in the yard, sent a picture of one of them several years ago to LLBean. Use to joke when I went into a retail store that I would like a replacement (of the original) for wear issues (never expected one, come on after 50 years).
Very nice sweater. Soft wool not itchy. Very well made with the roll up cuffs. It is the Bean so called slightly tapered cut. I have had problems with this size in the past being too small around the middle, but this sweater fits just fine.
