I have loved my old Commando Sweater for years but thought it was time for a new color. I ordered the same size that had served me so well, but upon donning the new one for the first time, I was quite concerned that it was too small. I decided to give it a go anyway, and left the hang-tag on just in case I needed to return it, but by the second wearing, I realized that the new sweater had "relaxed" and now fit very well. The neck shows less t-shirt than the old sweater's neck does, which is a good thing, and I suppose it goes to show the sweaters continue to relax a bit over time.
I wanted to order this sweater in a medium but they were all sold out online. I decided to try the large since I typically fall between sizes depending on the fit and cut, but the large was far too bulky in the chest and under the arms. I made a call to customer service and luckily they were able to find a medium at the flagship store and shipped it out to me. The medium was a superior fit--slim and much more flattering for my particular frame. (It fits similarly to the one on the model pictured for the item.) If you're a guy of my height and weight (6'1", 175lbs) keep in mind that the large might look rather boxy, which I find unattractive. The medium will likely be more fitted and form-fitting, though will not allow for much layering underneath. I'm pleased with the weight and the feel of the sweater. Hopefully it'll last me through several seasons.
I have a few L.L.Bean shirts that fit nicely, all size small, so I ordered this one. The shoulder and forearm patches looked nice and functional, and I wear a backpack often so it seemed right for me.
It fit...weird. The torso was snug (but comfortable) on my chest and waist. However, the arms were huge. It was an odd mismatch. Both the torso and arms were also very long, and at 5'9", it just wasn't working for me.
Maybe most disappointing were the forearm patches. They didn't even reach my elbows.
I sent it back via UPS, it just wasn't the sweater I was hoping for.
