When I was a kid I wore commando sweaters. I decided to get one again after 30+ years and they are still great. The quality is nice and the wool is thick. The medium fits great. Not too loose and not too tight. It is nice and trim. Great sweater!
I have the women’s version of this in black from last year. I really like it but the shoulders are narrow and arms a little short for me; I’m on the tall side and I have longer than average arms and broad shoulders for a woman. I also really wanted a green one, which doesn’t come in women’s. So I decided to try this in small since with my frame I can often make men’s things work, and I love it - I just roomy enough for great comfort and movement, but it’s not swallowing me. The wool is much softer and a bit heavier - but to be fair that could be a product of the color difference. New favorite sweater! I’m tempted to replace my black women’s with a black men’s version! Great quality sturdy wool sweater at a very reasonable price for what you’re getting.
Similar to the Commondo Sweater worn by Daniel Craig in No Time to Die. Stylish | Rugged | Athletic. The merino wool is not as smooth typical merino wool nor should it be for this type of sweater. High quality sweater at an excellent price.
I have worn LL Bean Commando Sweaters for over 40 years. I have literally worn them out. It takes about 20 years to do so. I am a geologist and often work in bad weather - I also am a backpacker and ice climber. So I use these things hard. The fit is great - sleeves are long - and cuffed so when you are working above your head - as in ice climbing - you have enough sleeve to roll down. Same is true of the length of the body. The wool is outstanding. I have bought plenty of expensive wool sweaters in my life - but this is the best - but not the most expensive. Its high quality stuff - and it keeps you warm when wet - I can attest to this from experience.
Highly recommended - LLBean needs to stock these forever. At 63, I just bought my last one however - these things last 20 years plus.... This one will last me till the end of the trail.
