My son and I have been in Cub and Boy Scouts now for 6yrs. When we started out, my brother in law lent us most of the gear to get started, as he and my nephew were in scouting until my nephew earned Eagle Scout and aged out. This sleeping bag liner was one of the items I almost passed on when he offered us his gear. What a mistake that would have been. We have found that is makes a great summer bag when it is cool overnight and is a great complement to our normal mid-temp sleeping bag during the Polar Bear events. We have moved over to using a hammock vs. tent and this helps to insulate you a bit more on windy nights. I have even put one in both cars as part of our emergency kit and use it on trips with the kids as a pillow/blanket.
My husband & I have used 2 of these bags, zipped together, everywhere, from backcountry camping to overnights with city friends. The bag is warm & convenient- no making the bed, just put the bag down & you're done. Washes easily & doesn't pill (we've had ours over 5 years). My one wish for taller people (which we are not) is that you offer a long version. Otherwise, a great idea.
And it's "Made In China". And the zippers work very well...even in the dark of night. I was just checking the website to see if there are more colors (and was reading reviews)! Our 3 bags are still great after all these years. I recently got 5 for our daughter, son-in-law, and grandkids. Monogrammed w "Mom", "Dad" and the children's names for Christmas. At our beach place it's easy to just put our camp bags on top of our bed and then all we wash are the bags and pillowcases! Easy-sneezy. We have a "guest" camp bag in a different color. :) I would love to see: gray or taupe or bright kiwi green or black.
I purchased two of these fleece bags hoping to use as lightweight sleeping bags this summer. The fleece material seemed like a nice quality and hence the 2 star rating. The zippers were terrible. It was very difficult both to unzip and zip up. The fabric is sewn too close to the teeth of the zipper and the zipper catches it along the full length of the zipper. I was really expecting a high quality zipper but this was not it. It would be a huge annoyance to get into and out of this bag. I have already returned them.
