Physical Therapist Approved,
October 7, 2009
By
boomershopperfrom Willoughby Hills, OH
"This is a real find! It is adjustable, sturdy, and it's even attractive. I've been receiving physical therapy for an arthritic hip. I showed this staff to the therapist and he really liked it, especially the comfortable handle. Staffs with just a knob at the top are rough on hands and arms. This item is very fairly priced, too."

Trekking Staff,
August 30, 2009
By
gator6570from Largo FL
"I am a 64 year old woman with two herniated discs. Because of the disc problem, I have some muscle weakness in my left leg. I could not have managed the difficult hiking trails in Algonquin Provincial Park (Canada) this summer without this trekking staff. It's light but incredibly sturdy and I felt very safe using it."

disappointed,
August 30, 2009
By
TXMEfrom Odessa, TX and Bailey Island, ME
"The first one arrived and neither my husband nor I could get the pin into the slot for using the rubber bottom. No problem getting the pin into the slot for the pointed end. I returned it and reordered upon the recommendation of customer service. The second one just arrived, but has the same problem. I'm thinking of taking a knife and cutting off a bit of the rubber blocking the pin from getting into the slot. Wonder if others are having similar problems and have a solution."

trekking staff,
June 11, 2009
By

"This is a compact, lightweight, easy to extend staff. The height adjusts and the handle can be used in two different ways. It is stable during use, but has enough give in the shaft so that the upper body is not jarred."

Rambler?poor description in Catalog,
June 10, 2009
By
80yearsyoungfrom Barrington,RI
"The description was very poor. It should state the interchangable tip from rubber to carbide metel tip by 1/4 turn push 1/4 turn. No separate rubber tips. The poor description hurts the versatility of the Rambler. It is very very good, it helps me and other impaired users."

Walking Stick (not the insect)!,
May 20, 2009
By
wheepfrom Edwardsville, IL.
"This is a well designed aid to walking, it is lightweight, yet strong and the adjustments for height are excellent and simple which is important when one is 86 years of age.
My only complaint is that it is so attractive that some symphony patron replaced his clumsy stick with mine. So this is my second walking stick"

Passed the test of time,
May 17, 2009
By
KaryLfrom Ann Arbor, MI
"I ordered 2 of these 2.5 years ago & hubby & I used them in Peru (Incan ruins climbing). They never failed us if we tightened them properly. Recently hubby forgot how to pull out the telescoping feature & forced it. I thought his was broken. After fiddling around with it, I got it to work perfectly again. So they will now be packed for our trip to various Mayan ruins in December. The cork handle is more generous than higher priced poles....perfect for old knees."

Adjustable, Strong and Portable,
November 6, 2008
By
Anonymousfrom Iowa City, IA
"I purchased a pair of Rambler Trekking Staffs for my wife and myself. We are in our mid-60s and are avid hikers. These staffs are strong enough to give support to our aging knees, adjustible enough for either of us to use (I am 6'2", my wife is 5'3"), and can be adjusted to fit into our carry-on bags when we fly. We have had them only a couple of weeks and have only tested them on hilly terrane near home, but they appear to be ideal for the hiking that we do in the western US and Europe. My only negative observation is that the instructions do not tell how to properly attach the accessory flat discoid "basket" that is included with each staff."

Rambler trekking staff,
October 9, 2008
By
ggdeucesfrom Effingham, IL
"I was disappointed in the tip of this item. The rubber designed to enclose the metal tip has failed after only two weeks of use. The metal is now always exposed. This is not the high product quality I have always enjoyed from LL Bean products. Otherwise the material and versatility of the staff are commendable."

Much better than a cane,
September 26, 2008
By
RobbieSuefrom Southern Califormia
"I got this pole for my mother who has arthritis. She uses it instead of the "old people" cane her insurance gave her. It's light, cork grip is comfortable, collapses for easy transport and personally, I like the convertible tip. It will collapse if it isn't fully secured and too much pressure is applied--that lost it one star."
