These are great for hiking and fishing, so I ordered another pair for my husband in the same size (medium) as his previous pair. The waist, in comparison, is a full inch smaller and very uncomfortable. They fit well in all the other areas, allowing for easy movement, so I am not confident about ordering a size up.
They had arrived right before a hiking trip, and he was disappointed that he would not be able to wear them.
We may try a large, but in the meantime, we'll be returning these. They are otherwise a great product.
I have a couple of pairs of zip-leg pants I got elsewhere, so when I saw these I thought they would be perfect for my needs. Like all LLB products they are well made and fit nicely. But I was very disappointed to discover that unlike every other pants of this type I've seen, including what I already had, they do NOT have zippers at the leg bottoms so that the legs can go easily on and off. Having to take off footwear to change them is a real nuicance when you are in the middle of hiking, birding, walking the beach or etc. I often don't wear them just because of that. I'd recommend them, but with this warning.
The pants waist was suppose to be 42, could not even come close to being closed was 3-4 inches short of being able to close. Just not made for short stocky people. Long and lanky probably work good. This XL only had a 38-39 waist.
Great pants/shorts. Keeps the sun out, keeps your skin dry. Runs a little tight, so buy one size up. The belt loops could be a little closer together towards the fronts, and as a result, the belt feels a little loose/sloppy. Other than that, I would not change a thing.
