I own several LL Bean pants of this style and I consider this latest purchase the best of the lot. The depth-of-pockets in all cases is superb, especially the two front slash pockets. The belt loops are sizeable enough to permit use of an alternate belt, which I require because I carry my cell phone in a belt mounted pouch. The fabric is truly wash-and-wear with minimal wrinkling, even after several launderings. One minor design problem: Instead of a button at the top of the front fly, I would prefer a snap closure, such as featured on some earlier LL Bean versions of this style of pants. However, that might be more a matter of personal choice than a design fault.
I wore these pants in Egypt in the June heat with the long legs on (required in a masque). I was still comfortable. No need to wear sweating underwear.
I really like these pants. The shorts have a great length, once they're zipped off the pants. Most of today's shorts are so long, you might as well be wearing pants! I fish avidly, and the fact that they have a built-in brief, and fast drying enable me to wet-wade, and fish into the cooler evening, while still staying dry once I get out of the water. They're also great to wear while kayak fishing, to keep the sun off. Very versatile for all fishing. I've been fishing for over 50 years, and it just gets better!

The pants became more comfortable with use and washing. I had tried a pair in a lighter fabric that felt better, but eventually, this fabric became more comfortable. I like the design. Pockets, seams, everything in the pants is comfortable and useful. It just takes a while for them to get worn in.
