The convenience of zip-offs is great. Since these pants do not have boot zippers or snaps in the lower leg they may be shortened which is nice for short people.
I purchased these due to the lightweight fabric. Wife and I are traveling to Europe this spring and luggage weight is a priority. The item fits well and is well made. The bathing-suit type netting is probably practical when fishing in the tropics, especially flats fishing for bones, etc. Not what I need for a trip but will leave in because the netting willl come in handy on extremely humid, hot days.
I bought a pair of these pants several years ago and they were just what I wanted. 5 star. I ordered a second pair about 2 years later that was identical except for the color and country of manufacture. Within 6 months the fabric faded showing streaks and blotches of pinkish color. Both pair were laundered at the same time and I don't use a bleach so it appears to be a problem with the fabric. I've requested a replacement. Hopefully this is an isolated incident.
I purchased a pair of these in September which my husband loved so I purchased another pair in a different color for the holidays and he is really disappointed. The second pair is physically cut much smaller than the first pair even though they are labeled the same size. By measurement, they are nearly an inch shorter and fit much tighter at the hips. They are going back and won't be replaced because we can't count of LLBean sizing of this item.
