In the past I have used a traditional vest or a mini-chest pack, but in both cases I have wanted additional support and storage. I tried this vest on at the Tysons Corner store and knew it was what I was looking for. This pack fits the bill without going overboard. Nice tight fit with plenty of storage and work space. This vest is to good to only be used for fly fishing. I looked at every manufacturer I could think of to find a pack to carry a medium amount of stuff with a thin back pice, good access, good freedom of movement and you could get to everything with out removeing the pack. The only other item that could do the job as well as this vest is ment for the military, great gear but people would look at you funny. I use it to carry all the little things that you always need but always forget. No jacket has room for a camara, hand wormers, letherman, athletic tape snack food, water, extra hat, bandaids..... and if it did you would not want to ware it. The ski patrol at every mountin I go to will come over and ask me ware I got the vest and most of them laugh when I tell them the fly fishing department of LLBean. I think this summer I will take out the cold weather suplies and use it for my camera gear, I might even buy a fly fishing pole and try that, this vest makes everything so much easier the fish must just swim in to the net. LLBean shoud repurpose this vest to any active outdorseman. I am thinking in a gray or back, maybe put a grab handle on the back of the neck for an emergency. Top marks LLBean

This vest is very comfortable to wear since much of the weight is supported by your hips rather than your shoulders. Also, there are tons of pockets to store stuff. The best part is after a couple of years wear, one of the zingers broke loose. I called the fishing department and he said that should not happen so he sent me a brand new vest, no charge.
