This is a great little lantern! Living in Florida, we have some pretty powerful storms go through that effect power so having a good battery powered light is really important. This lantern provides light to a large area so the family does not have to sit in the dark and the LED lights require very little power so the batteries last a long time. The remote allows the light to be turned on and off at a distance which is really handy. Every one should have one around the house for emergencies.
This lantern seems to be a good buy. We haven't had it long enough to know whether it "eats" up batteries or not, but it puts out a great deal of light for it's size. There's a swing out hanger in the handle that doesn't show in the pictures which is handy for hanging it. The remote is cool, but the directions say you shouldn't leave it in "remote" mode, so I'm not sure how great a feature that is. And, my 7 year old is quite enamored with it.
