This has been one of the best eshopping experience of my life, I bought the wrong carrier last year and I returned without a receipt. I bought this one and I got assistance and they explained which product was the best for me. The person who installed help me step by step how to secure my kayak in the rack, he was cautious and patient with me. He had a great personality and people skills.
ProsDurable, Great Value, performing better than expected.
I have a very bad back injury that has gotten worse over the years but because I have the hullavator I have been able to continue to go kayaking . It had to be put on a little differently than initially expected because I have a Subaru but it works very well and safely. I would recommend it to anyone especially when it is on sale. It is particularly helpful when you have any weakness or difficulty lifting your kayak. I use the little trolley that can help me pull my kayak to the water after getting it off of the hullavator. Thanks Thule for making this and LLBean for carrying it:-)
I had the hullavator installed on my rav4 two years ago when I told my kayak outfitter company I would have to give up kayaking despite my love for it, because I am handicapped and could no longer lift a kayak, alone, high enough to cartop. They showed me the hullavator and although initially an expense, was ultimately worth every penny because it saved kayaking for me. I would have had to quit two years ago had it not been for the hullavator - and kayaking is one of the few recreational activities I can participate in, and do so alone, due to my handicaps. So well worth every cent. I agree that onlookers do watch, come over, and want to see it again and ask questions. But that's becoming less and less because I am seeing more and more hullavators now where I'd never seen any prior to getting my own. So word is getting around - and it is a Godsend for those with handicaps, or petite and older women, and older men as well - for anyone who would find kayaking difficult or impossible due to inability to transport kayaks alone and without help. Best invention since the kayak!!!
