The product worked superbly for a small group of kids, More importantly, however, the manufacturer's customer support line was outstanding from the fact that the number called was answered by a live person on the second ring to the service rep's obvious knowledge of how the product worked and of the right combination of ingredients.
Grandkids ages 6-11 had a blast with this. Worked great, ice cream tasted great and they got a lot of exercise doing it. It was really a sturdy container and we rolled it around on the carpet without worrying it would leak.
We got this for Christmas and only used it once so far to make the vanilla ice cream. It was very good. The quart size was enough for 6 of us to have a bowl. During the first 15 minutes of rolling we had a little leakage from the salt/ice end. Make sure the lid is securely on. It's kind of hard to scrape down the sides - they should provide an appropriate tool for this - one that is shaped to fit the side of the container. Other than that, it was very good. Also, use some type of strainer to cover the end of the ball when you are dumping the melted water out. It tells you on the instructions that the salt makes it much colder, but I didn't think about that as I held my hand over the end to dump it out. It burned my fingers. I should have known better but it didn't cross my mind.
Great gift! Sent it to grandkids in Arizona, but they probably won't be able to use it outside! Fun anyway and they loved the flavored syrups I sent as well.
