Having grown up in New England I was used to cold, after several years in Florida when I moved back north and out on Block Island, there was a cold I didn't remember. Working in any capacity outdoors required proper protection. As well as good wool sox, this Bean Union Suit will knock out Jack Frost in less than four rounds! Of cours layers are required above the base but what a warm, comfortable foundation this suit becomes.
I have given these as a gift to my son for years and he wears them until they are totally worn out. Great layer for someone who is out in the cold a lot
I bought this for my husband for Christmas. In my search I read many descriptions and reviews of many different union suits. The variety was almost overwhelming. I decided to go with L.L. Bean. The reviews in general were encouraging and I knew that if there was a problem an exchange would be no issue. I was thrilled with how the medium fit my husband. A union suit's fit is quite challenging. He wears it under his jeans for added warmth, he also wears it under his snow suit when he is shoveling, snow blowing, and up on the roof clearing snow and preventing ice dams. It is not restrictive anywhere, he has full range of movement. And it's not so bulky that he can't wear it underneath his regular clothes. He also just like hanging around and chilling in it on cold winter nights.
