The two layer union suit is well constructed out of good material, but the design is very poor. It seems to have been designed for the torso of a Clydesdale with the legs of a Shetland pony. The most common remark I get when wearing it is that it looks like I have a full diaper because the seat of the thing hangs so low. The buttons will also not stay fastened. The worst part about the buttons is that the most common offenders are in the most sensitive areas (both front and back).
Just what I needed and great service too. I kind of fall in between sizes and ordered a large but had to return it for X-large. No Problem..Great service. Because these fit like a jump suit over the shoulders to the crotch area they can be snug making stretching arms over head particularly tight in the wing area (shoulders, back & under arms) and any shrinkage could make this more problematic. Maybe I'm a bit old fashion but I wear mine with lined carpenters and suspenders. I don't like the heavy elastic around the waist thats associated with wearing two piece thermal sets. I can stay outside all day in these. Haven't had any itching problems, they fit great and are really comfortable. I'd suggest that if you fall at the end of your size in there sizing chart to go with the next size up. I've usually had trouble with arm lengths being too short especially after a washing. These have generous arm lengths. The elastic at the sleeves is good but I like to pull them up when I work sometimes and wish they had a couple buttons at the sleeve so I don't stretch out the elastic. Another nice addition would be buttoned pocket slots. If you need to adjust your shorts you practically have to get undressed. Lol. I definitely will get more of these.
I gave my husband a Medium size Red union suit for Christmas. He is 'normally' proportioned, but according to the fit of the union suit, his torso should be about 2 feet longer and his legs 2 feet shorter!!! It looks ludicrous on him; I can't even imagine the discomfort factor when having to stuff all that torso material under pants.
I love LLBean products and consider myself an LLBean addict. However, these are coming back as soon as I can get to the post office.
Hopefully, LLBean will test these out on some Bean employees and see what I'm referring to; I know other customers have commented on the poor shape and excess torso. I hoped they were wrong. Nope.
I never thought I'd wear a union suit, but desperate temps call for desperate measures. I'm 5'11, 175 and would normally wear a medium, but bought a small based on reading the reviews. After washing, it is a perfect fit on legs and arms and torso. I can't wait to try this thing out on long hunts in the woods or cold rides on the chairlift. I am certainly not going to miss the breeze on my lower back from 2-piece base layers.
