I love my LL Bean Union Suit! It's toasty (keeps my lower back warm too!) and covers all parts of my body. It's a great traditional product designed to keep you warm and be functional. I love it as a pair of pyjamas on its own or as a layer to go underneath shirts and pants.
That being said, I am very disappointed with the fact that the buttons constantly come undone on this union suit. The back flap button and the top six buttons on the front ALWAYS separate from the buttonhole. Often I have to wear a t-shirt or lightweight shirt underneath the union suit in order to have my chest covered.
If that flaw in the item could be fixed, I would definitely not hesitate to give this product five stars.
My husband is very hard to buy for. I bought him one of these union suits and he absolutely LOVES it. So... I bought TWO MORE! He says it's comfortable, roomy and plenty warm (he works outdoors). My husband is a short man, about 5'5" and just a little full--but definitely not heavy--around the middle. This was the perfect gift for him!
My husband is about 5'5". Unfortunately, the small union suit was WAY too large for him, with the crotch hanging about 6 inches too low. While this seems to be a great item in itself, I do not recommend it for any man under probably about 5'9".
I like my union suit from l.l. bean, don't get me wrong. The quality is there but as far as everything else is concerned it doesn't fit, the buttons do not stay buttoned and it is way too bulky. I ordered a small (my usual size from bean), but when I received them they were HUGE. Hoped that a wash on the hot cycle and high temp drying would help, not so. I don't consider myself small or too large (5'8", 165lbs), but honestly who designed this getup?! Why does the crotch hang so low? Is this the urban version of a union suit? I'm just trying to get some tree work done and I find myself constantly rearranging myself and re-buttoning the buttons. This outfit is totally unpractical unless you actually fit the optimum size. In a jean measurement the small would fit a 36" waist and have an inseam of 34" or so.
