Ordered these for my dad, who said it is the warmest Union suit he's ever worn! Definitely size down, ordered his normal size, and he said two of him could have gotten in. Otherwise, great quality!
If you want to be warm in a breathable fabric, this is a perfect 10. I wear them every day when working outside in the winter. Part of the secret is the cotton fabric and the double layers. None of that stretchy, scratchy man-made material here. Just pure comfort and warmth. The arms and legs fit snug, while the body is roomy. If you want to use the bathroom without removal, there is a trap door in the back. Keep in mind a union suit is going to keep you warmer without that tight elastic waist. The trade-off is extra fabric in the waist and butt area. If you are planning on wearing tight jeans, and want your butt to look slim, these are not for you. If you want warmth, comfort, and a happy body, these are incredible.
I've bought several LL Bean union suits over the years and also been gifted some, so I have a bit of experience with the product. I have to say that I do love them and have since the first wearing. Only my cats have caused any tearing issues. So far I haven't lost a button. These union suits fit best if you aren't wearing tight outer clothing. I'm a skinny guy so I get lots of loose material around the waist and torso, but I wear pants that allow room for the bagginess to prevent bunching in the crotch and sweatshirts/hoodies cover my top. I learned that I had to work with the clothing, and then it would work for me. Some warm air floating around your body is a nice extra layer. Anyway, I buy a couple of suits about every 2 years now plus whatever I receive as a gift. It keeps me warm and content up here in Vermont. I recommend these LL Bean union suits to keep you warm wherever you live in North America. I have 2 suggestions for this product to improve it - first, put an extra button on the back flap to help keep it closed,. and second, add a hood made of wool or some other soft,fuzzy material that will feel warm and soft next tp somepne's face.
