Prosfor barrel-bodied men, of adequate construction
The construction of these union suits is mediocre at best. Granted, I am sure they provide a good amount of warmth for their design (same fabric as the river driver), however, the sizing is fairly sloppy.
Similar to other LLB garments, these are cut to accomodate a very pudgy and barrel-bodied man. Notice in the picture how it's a non-tapering cut down the torso. If you're slender and your hips are smaller than your shoulders, expect a huge gut (despite the sleeves/legs fitting appropriately) and a bunch of extra fabric to tuck into your jens.
In addition, the bum flap is only held closed by 1 button -- the bum flap is like a foot and a half long. It should have at least two buttons.
I bought my husband one of these union suits and was jealous of his yummy woolies. Now I have my own suit and I love it. So comfy, I'm tempted never to take it off on cold, wet days.
Mine shrank more than my husband's did, but luckily I bought big. I'm a 5'8" woman with a medium build and I bought a medium. Not much room to spare when it's right out of the dryer, but it does stretch a bit with wear.
I recently moved to Cape Cod after spending 40 +years in Florida. This winter was tough for me but Im so glad I purchased the union suit. I love it. I live in it. I don't want to take it off. It fits great/ it washes great/ very little shrinkage. Buttons in the back are not necessary in my opinion I prefer to drop it down when I need to use the bathroom.
Always wanted a union suit but never really liked what I saw in the stores. found this one at LL bean and ordered it. What a great suprise it was when it arrived. The first fitting it was a little large but after one washing it fit perfectly. Very warm, very comfortable very soft. Great buy excellent value.
