Last Winter 14-15' NH broke a record cold of 145 yrs according to local news. Many of the New England other surrounding states broke record snowfall as well. I quickly learned, it's NOT how many layers you wear that matter. It's WHAT type of material it's that matters, such the union suit. As it's made w/wool :) I have a dog and live in an apt, dog must be walked in ALL kinds of weather. Global Warming is messing up all of our seasons everywhere it's crazy! The union suit is great as pajamas in mid-fall right before everyone puts on the heat again in New England.
I had a pair of these maybe 30 years ago from LL Bean; that pair in red, had buttons down the front but NO flap in the rear, which made for some interesting trips to the bathroom (luckily indoors!). It was warm & comfortable, no button or flap issues. Wore it out I guess, I no longer have it. So...ordered this one despite some of the reviews. It seems the same as far as material, but I am returning it: I don't like the back flap at all, seems to be way too much materials and I don't like the button closure. More to the point: I am 5'2" same as 30 years ago (I haven't grown or shrunk). When I took this one out of the package, it was apparent that it was about 12" too long! I just cannot see having it bunch up from my waist to my ankles! I think Bean should include that data somewhere in the description. I guess I will stick to my Bean double layer bottoms and top but I do wish they came in red! Maybe this could be redone, with snaps or a zipper in front & no back flap at all. Shorter....and in red!
The union suit is comfortable, after being washed fits like skin but is not too tight and gives me the warmth and convenience that only a union suit can give. It would be nice to feature ivory or white to be worn under sweaters of that color. I am really glad that someone is making union suits for women, I don't have to buy men's and then hope I can shrink them down and if I wear more than one layer over it I don't have a long john shirt as well as a shirt under my sweater to tuck in. That's too much tucking for me. The quality is excellent. Please do think about white/ivory, though. The pale pink is good for lighter colored sweaters, but not for ivory or white. Thanks.
