my previous 20 degree LL Bean seems like it doesn't have quite the warmth it used to. Or maybe it's me getting older. I like having the room to move my legs and feet around; not constrained like mummy bags. Packs up compactly, little weight. With modern waterproof containers, I don't worry at all about it getting wet. So, I love this bag.
Purchased this bag as well as the 20' adventure bag. Was hoping to be able to mate the two bags to create a double. Worked perfectly! Bag is identical shape/zipper type as the adventure bag. If only buying one bag, would prefer the down one. But if buying two, I would recommend one down and one adventure over two down. Girlfriend is a warm sleeper so 2xdown may have been two much.
Very roomy for two. The adventure is nice as the bottom since it is a bit thicker. Bag is quite warm. Have no doubts it would work up until the limit. The silky nylon is super comfortable. The bag compresses down to a very small size. Awesome bag for the price.
I bought my first 20* rectangular down sleeping bag from LL Bean about 12 years ago. I have used it all over the world, washed it in the washing machine, etc.; and it still looks brand new. I have used it in the house when the power has gone out in the winter!
Everyone who uses it thinks that it is complete luxury somehow.
I just bought another one, and it looks exactly the same. These things compact down to the size of a loaf of bread in the stuff sack (provided) and are light-weight enough for my needs.
I thought my first one was a bit expensive; but considering the quality of the bag, I see that the investment has more than paid off.
I bought this bag in the Spring, and used it camping in the foothills of the Sierras. Night temps around 40 degrees. Since it is a rectangle, I had plenty of room for clothing inside and was comfy. Next I used it in the Oregon Summer, temps in the high 60's at night. The bottom is thinner than the top, so I unzipped it and covered myself with only the bottom. Then I was in BC late Summer, and used it unzipped, thick side up. The fabric is smooth without feeling plastic-ey, you can use either side to cover, it stuffs really small, and doesn't cost too much. I'm buying it for my step-son next!
