Always had to put the kayak on the roof of the van to go about 1/8 th of mile to the river. Now I just load it on othe cart, and down the road I go; it saves both time and effort. A friend sent me an email about the cart, and can't thank him enough. Buy one, and try it!!
IThe cart attaches easily and is easy to take off. I tried to use it at a recent canal canoe/kayak event but there was so much help that they wanted to pick up the canoe with the wheels attached to get it to my car, so I was not able to do a complete test. The cart will be great in getting the canoe from my garage to the water this summer though.
Just get one, forget about those canoe/kayak carts which cost twice or more, this does the job right. Small enough to fit the openings if my sit-in Tsunami kayak, don't need to strapped on top. My only complain is the somehow narrow wheels but is not that bad. The days of dragging my kayak are over. It fits canoes too.
Have had this cart a year now and have used it to portage kayaks around a dam and to transport a canoe up and down a steep hill to and from a garage to lakeside and back. It's lightweight, portable, economical and easy to use. Stows easily in kayak hatch. It has made the prospect of portages and longer hauls more manageable for a couple of mid-lifers who have happily discovered kayaking!
