This is my second pair of these pants. They do a good job of turning briars (they definitely aren't briar proof but overall are better than any other product I've tried) and are very comfortable. They provide better coverage than chaps alone but the briar resistant layer could be expanded to cover a larger area. The water resistance performs well and is an asset during cold, wet weather. Finally, I've worn out a lot of cuffs in a lot of different pants over the years but these cuffs look like new after two years of tough hunting. My concerns are that the seams in the legs aren't heavy enough and come unsewn too easily. That and the fact that the briar resistance could be expanded keep me from giving these 5 stars. Still, they're the best I've tried and I would definitely recommend them.
If you hunt rough territory, these are a good value.
I love the fit and feel of these pants, they breath really well, and in Maine, our thorny bushes can destroy un-chapped pants. Not a problem here. THE PROBLEM is 2 part: The Epoxy Coated cuff adheres to the heel of your boots (I wear The Maine Hunting Shoe), and pulls the pants down from the heel; very awkward. If the material was not on the inside of the cuff, this would not be a problem. It has gone so far as to remove the cute little rectangular LL Bean rubber labels off the back of my boots. Part 2: The small shell pouch between the front and rear pockets is too deep, and the opening too small. There are rubberized shell dividers inside, and it is IMPOSSIBLE to get a gloved hand, and VERY HARD to get a bare hand in to replace and retrieve shells. If the pocket was more shallow, or simply wider, maybe this would work better. With a little more tweaking, these pants would get a 5 star rating; as it stands, I cannot recommend them until the cuff issue is resolved.
Ok, they are extremely comfortable BUT, the stiching between the legs ''opened up'' the first time I used them, the leg covering is not high enough and the material used for the upper stretch section is not resistant enough, BUT again, they are so comfortable. Used them in the worst suff possible and they did the job. Make the covering higher on the front and the stretch material more resistant and you have a winner... But I still give them a 4.
I had high expectations for these pants & chose them over other brands for a long awaited KS Quail & Ringneck hunt. The weather was to be in 60s several days, so lightweight performance key. Hoping mine were an anomoly with poor stitching durability, not a trend as the stretch, wicking, technical capabilities & modern fabrics would bode well for these if they had held up. However, after first day, rear seat stitching failed significantly. Another wear & my backside would have been thoroughly ventilated. Am thankful I brought chaps & extra pants, or would have had to take time from hunting to source replacement.
