I am wearing these pants as I write this review. I am not a hunter but bought these pants anyway. I just like the way they look. Also there will be times that I walk through moderate undergrowth. I can see why the material and the design will protect my legs from whatever I am walking through. Even barb wirer. The darker brown material stretches making wearing it more comfortable.
Only get about 45 days a year in the field hunting pheasants and grouse.
Bought these pants to replace the pair I wore out last year. Like the breathability, water repellancy and protection. The prairie is tough on gear, lots of brusha and fences to cross. Get rid of the two pocklet shell thing raise the protection on front of legs about 2" and these pants would be the best. Fabric selection is excellent. Bottom cuffs will wear like iron. security pockets are nice feature would be nice if they were about 2" longer so I could get my hands in easier.
Have not worn pants yet, but think they will work out better as far as tramping around in the woods looking for grouse. The cuff looks more durable and I think it will stand up to the wear and tear they will receive.
ProsDurable, Great Value, performed better than expected
I'm an environmental geologist who frequently does field in Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas, Arkansas and Louisiana. Recently, temperatures have been soaring past 100F. After a rough bout with blackberry bushes in OK, I thought I'd try these pants -- the day of the first test experienced a high temperature of 103 -- even so these pants were comfortable and wicked moisture away. I used to wear jeans for this work -- never again. They kept my knees thorn free and kept me reasonably dry and cool. Very comfortable field pants.
