I hunt pheasant/quail in Kansas and quail/rabbits in Kentucky.
I have hunted with these pants for 3 seasons and they are by far my favorite upland pant. They are very comfortable and are not stiff like most reinforced upland pants/jeans. They are great for the cover I encounter which is thick grass, crops, plum thickets, and reeds. They do fine with some thorns but if I have to chase Briar Rabbit into the heart of the briar patch I would want something thicker.
My favorite feature of the pants are their weight, they are slightly lighter than my regular jeans. The cuffs look brand new after three seasons. The pants do well in both the warm and the cold. However, when the temps get above 70 degrees they are a little too warm for me. The articulated knees work well and I have never felt in a "bind" while crawling, bending over, etc.
My biggest complaint is I wish the shielding covered the crotch as I have a few holes from crossing fences. These were small, the fabric did not ravel, and were easily sewn up.
I found I needed to order a size 2" larger waist than my normal jeans and about 2" shorter for a good fit.
This was my first pair of hunting pants. I have a new GSP and began hunting him this season. After two full days in the Maine woods, I found that the stitching in the crotch began to come apart. Nothing too serious but enough to send them back. I brought them to my local LL Bean here in MA and they took them back and had a new pair mailed to me. As usual great customer service.
I thought the pants were very comfortable, this October it was pretty warm in ME. They went through the thickets and the alder trees easily. Very good for warm weather. When the weather cools off they're roomy enough to layer up for warmth.
These pants are nice in the fact that they keep me nice and cool on grouse hunts. The fabric on the upper thighs is very thin and stretchy which allows for great movement, but also allows some taller thorn bushes to rip through. The stitching is starting to fray a bit on the lowers and around the knees, so we will have to see how they hold up for the rest of the season.
