I like this product, but I'm not even really sure how to wear it. There was no picture on the website of a person wearing it, and there were no instructions included with the item.
Most items from OR are well thought out, fit well and functional. I usually wear a L to XL in hats & headwear and don't have an unusually large chin or neck - so I bought the large face mask - the largest size availible from Bean & I believe its the largest OR makes in this model. It was an extremely tight fit. Not a chance of working as it smashed my nose & face. Because of its fit the design of the nose & mouth were very uncomfortable & awkward at best. Either way if you wear a mens L, XL or XXL in headwear - with this facemask - I think your out of luck.
I walk everywhere in every type of weather and when windchills dip into the single digits, my face is not happy. This face mask was exactly what I needed. It is completely windproof. My cheeks never felt a thing as I walked through blowing air. The vent in the front allows for breathing quite well (even heavy panting from a hard walk/run). Note: This item does not really insulate your face from the cold like a scarf does. My cheeks still get cold from being outside, but they were protected from bitter, blowing winds, which is the idea.
I bought a large size because that was all that was available and it is pretty big for a female face. I stuff my scarf in the back (where the mask wraps around my head) to keep it in place. Once there is enough bulk, the mask stays in place and fits well. I will most likely buy a smaller size next year.
Great product. A real life saver this winter! Would definitely recommend!
Not an acceptable product. I ordered a Large my head is about a 6 7/8 and the mask is too small. For $28 this product is very overpriced. I am returning it.
