I was looking for something to block the wind on my neck and face under my helmet while out snowmobiling. I was pleased with the performance of this product, I only wish it was a bit longer to cover more of my neck. All in all I was satisfied with this product.
My husband purchased this item to wear while snow-blowing, but the mask was too small. It also did not provide the coverage he wanted, so we have returned it.
Regarding fit, I have a smaller head and a thin face with small facial features, my neck measures about 13 inches (I am female). That being said I ordered a size small and have found it to fit perfectly. The bottom part of the mask Velcro's at the back of the neck and measures approximately 19 inches laying flat, keep in mind this fabric stretches. It stays in place, does not get all soggy nor does it freeze near the tightly woven mesh mouth area and it does a terrific job keeping the wind off the face.
Unless your nose is the exact size as the nose on the mask you should expect a little bagging where the fabric will cover the top part of your nose (up near your eyes) it may not be tight or flush against your skin thus letting in a little bit of air up top.
It's warm and toasty for bone chilling New England winter winds. I would recommend!.
I had a problem with my bike during the winter days. I couldn't stop the wind going inside my face, nose, eyes etc and that made me have a cold every year. Then, i decided and kept the bike in the garage till the next summer. I couldn't use it. I had to use my car.
Now, using this amazing L.L.Bean Outdoor Research Windstopper Face Mask I am not afraid of the wind, I haven't had any cold since I start using it. It feels great, very soft, repells the wind, really changed my winter behaviour with my bike. Now, I use the bike with no fear of getting cold. An Amazing product that really does what it says! Thanks L.L.Bean! Nick from Crete, Greece.
