I replaced an older version of this knife just to get a new one and have a sharp blade. I expect this one to last at least five years, with occasional knife sharpenings.
To me, this is the perfect pocket knife, and I'm lost when I forget to bring it with me, or when I'm flying and have to leave it home.
My son bought one of these knives and gave it to me a few years ago when we visited the L.L. Bean store in Freeport on a family vacation. I carried and used that knife every single day but lost it this summer and was heartbroken because of the sentimental value. I immediately went to the L.L. Bean website and was really happy to see that the same exact knife was still available. This knife is really handy and well made and I think everyone should own one!
I love this pocket knife. It has all of the gadgets I need and it is small enough to go on my keychain without being heavy or bulky. It is so convenient, I use it all the time. My only complaint is that it is so small that the gadets are sometimes a little hard to pull out. You need to have a fingernail that is long enough to fit into the tiny little groove to pull it out. But considering that the product is so small to begin with I don't think there is anything that could be done about that.
This is a terrific little knife, purchased as a replacement for one which had to be discarded before boarding a plane. There is one SERIOUS problem: the packaging. The knife is encased in plastic FAR larger than necessary and of particular strength and thickness. Similar to that which houses flashlight batteries, it has to be dismantled carefully to avoid injury to oneself. In fact, the knife was scratched in the process - very distressing.
