My family goes through several packs of these warmers every winter. For shoveling snow, camping, skiing, and my husband's winter bicycling habit, they have been perfect. I agree with reviews that say they don't get as hot as some brands, but to me that means no painful over-hot spots. They are also priced better than any other similar product I've seen.
Each winter I send these (and Wicked Good toe warmers) to my kids' school for the staff and faculty who help direct traffic in the parking lot and bus lane, and they love them.
We've been using Handwarmers for years while hiking in the White Mts of New Hampshire & Maine. In all 4 seasons we keep them in the pack for emergency or extreme mountain weather-change situations.
My fingers always seem to get cold 1st! So especially in the winter I use them most frequently, because I am alwasy taking my gloves on & off to adjust gear & snowshoes. I'll put them in my mittens or gloves when we stop for views or a snack on the summit & they warm up my finger tips & hands quickly. These sit in the palms of your hands & don't interfere w/ my trekking poles at all.
And they STAY warm! They truly last for 6 or 7 hrs>>> well after the snowshoe hike is done! A great value & a must for any serious outdoor winter play
